Nationwide consultations on Fiji’s new National Development Plan (NDP) begins today (Wednesday, February 14).
The Ministry of Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics is formulating a new NDP that will cover the three, five and 20-year plan for the country.
The divisional teams of the ministry presented their i-sevusevu to Deputy PM and Acting Finance Minister Viliame Gavoka yesterday seeking the Government’s blessings before it commenced consultations.
Mr Gavoka said it was important to engage directly with the people.
He said nationwide consultations provided an invaluable opportunity to listen to and connect with the people.
“The consultation aims to meticulously consider the challenges faced by Fijians in sustaining their livelihoods, with particular attention to the realities encountered by rural and maritime communities, including the current status of rural and maritime schools,” Mr Gavoka said.
The nationwide consultation will take place from February 14 to Match 21.
Ministry staff will be travelling around the country during this period, soliciting input and feedback from citizens to inform the development objectives, strategies, and programs outlined in the draft plan.

- 30pm-4.30pm – Yanuca Island Village Hall, Serua (Areas covered – Yanuca Is)
- 6pm-8pm – Makosoi Village Hall, Deuba (Areas covered – Makosoi Village, Pacific Harbour)
