THERE will only be one round of eliminations before the teams for the cup quarter-finals are decided for the 33rd Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s.
With a total of 48 teams divided into 12 pools, the first placed team from each pool and the four best second placed teams will qualify for the round of 16 which serves as the eliminations.
Tournament co-ordinator Jeff Tamata said all the pool matches would be completed on day one of action together with the elimination round.
Tamata said the women’s, under-20 and Fellow Fijians categories would start on Saturday with the cup quarter-final set to kick off at 2.20pm.
“A total of 40 match officials will officiate in the two-day tournament,” Tamata said.
“We have brought in the best accredited match officials available to make sure that the controlling standard in the tournament is high.”
The category for Fijian players of Indian descent has been renamed as Fellow Fijians.
