NAVATU Secondary School has shifted its focus to the semi-final of the Fiji Secondary School rugby competition after a hard-fought 19-15 quarter-final victory over Suva Grammar School at Ganilau Park in Savusavu yesterday.
Navatu head coach Alipate Ravulo said the team would now concentrate on improving areas of its game before the semi-final.
He said the players had worked on their weaknesses identified during their elimination match against Queen Victoria School.
“The only thing is that we work on our weapons, on our weaknesses from the elimination against Kiwis, and we work on our weaknesses,” he said.
Mr Ravulo said the team had also placed emphasis on being quicker at the breakdown and making better use of space.
“We try to be quick on breakdowns, and we try to focus on running into space.”
He said the players were aware of the challenge ahead and would need to maintain their discipline and composure.
He said his message to the players was to give their best and dedicate their performance to those who had supported them.
“The only message I give the boys is for them to play their heart out and dedicate their games to their families, to their friends, and to the school.”
He said the team could potentially have to travel to the Western Division for the semi-final.
He also acknowledged the strong support from Navatu supporters, with fans turning up in large numbers wearing the school’s blue and white colours.
Navatu will now prepare for another demanding match as it targets a place in the final.
