FIJI Airways has secured a world record after bringing together 507 singers and participants to form the largest beach choir at Natadola Beach.

The record was achieved on October 17 at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa and accredited by World Record Certification (WRCAC), where the choir performed Pharrell Williams’ hit song ‘Happy’ and ‘This Is Me’ from the musical film The Greatest Showman.

Fiji Airways managing director and chief executive officer Paul Scurrah said the achievement demonstrated Fiji’s spirit of unity and togetherness.

“Fijians have a wonderful way of bringing people together, and music is one of the ways we share that spirit with the world,” Mr Scurrah said.

“Seeing so many people from different communities come together on Natadola Beach to create something special was a powerful expression of what makes Fiji unique.”

Mr Scurrah said the achievement was more than a world record, but a celebration of what people could accomplish when they came together. The event brought together local choirs, Fiji Airways employees, musicians, and players from the airline’s sponsored sporting teams, including the Fijian Drua and Fiji Rugby Union. World Record Certification officer James Nichols said the performance demonstrated the power of music to unite people.

“Bringing together singers from across Fiji to perform simultaneously on the beautiful shores of Natadola Bay is not only an impressive accomplishment, but also a celebration of Fiji’s strong community spirit and rich musical culture,” he said.

The world record forms part of Finding Happiness, a documentary being developed with Resonant Blue and presented by Fiji Airways.

The airline said the achievement celebrated the people and communities at the heart of its operations and reinforced its commitment to sharing Fiji’s warmth, hospitality and culture with the world.
