The Nasinu football side was crowned champions of the Premier Division at the Courts Inter-District Championship in Suva yesterday.
Top marksman Nasoni Mereke was the hero for the Nasinu side scoring two goals in the first spell to see them win 3-nil.
Nemani Dolodai scored the third goal in the second spell. Seaqaqa tried hard, but failed to make use of the opportunities they had.
Seaqaqa had defeated Nasinu 2-nil when the two teams met in the pool stages. Nasinu coach Shivan Nathan said his side ended the season on a high note.
“We had a disappointing run in the Digicel Premier League but am glad we are finishing the season with a win.
“We knew what to expect from Seaqaqa as he had faced them in the pool but this time around the stakes were higher and I am glad we were able to turn the result around,” Nathan said.
Nasinu received $6000 for the win while Seaqaqa walked away with $2000.
Nasinu will feature in the Senior Division next year while Seaqaqa will battle Tavua in the Senior Division playoff later this month to decide which team gains promotion to the Premier Division next year.
