THE Nasinu women’s rugby team have put the entire competition on notice after dismantling competition leaders Suva 43-27 last Saturday in the final round of the Subrails Marama Championship at the Upraising grounds at Pacific Harbour.

Ending the capital side’s eight match winning streak was major objective for the side to end the round robin competition on a high.

Head coach Tomasi Katonivualiku said the victory is a significant boost for the team heading into the business end of the competition.

“During the week I told the girls we have to no other option but beat Suva if we want to have a good placing in the competition standing heading into the quarter-finals and I’m grateful the girls did just that,” he said.

The side celebrated the victory in the weekend but today Katonivualiku and his girls will return to the drawing board where they will look to build on their impressive performance over the weekend.

“This victory means a lot to us it takes us one step closer to the goal we set in the beginning of the season – to finish in the top in the competition,” he said.

Fiji Rugby Union is expected to confirm the quarter-final fixtures of the Marama Championship in the next few days.
