Aggression at the ruck was one of the major lessons learned for the Nasinu Rugby Club side after going down to Marist 21-8 in round four of the FMF Suva Rugby Escott Shield competition at Bidesi Ground in Suva on Saturday.
Assistant head coach Apisai Seru said this was an area noted during their clash against Marist which needed attention.
“This is important because it is at the ruck where we can get turnovers and win possession of the ball. I think the boys were not that aggressive during the breakdowns of the rucks and that is something we will be working on this week,” he said.
A few of their senior players missed out on the match because of injuries sustained the week before.
“We had a prop and another forward who were unable to play because of a concussion and an injury, so we had to fill the gap with some of our backs on the bench. However, this is no excuse, and we promise our fans we will be coming back stronger.”
He said they expected to take on Nabua this week and anticipating a tough encounter from the side.
In other results, Army Green thrashed Central Brothers 33-18 for the Escott Shield competition.
In the FMF Koroturaga competition, Army Red beat Dominion Brothers 24-8, Kalokolevu Green lost 28-19 to Lami Cavaliers 2, Vunidakua beat Nakavu 2 15-18 while Savura defeated Draunivau Sharks 20-13.
