The Nalawa Football Association has been given two years to get its act together before applying for full membership of the Fiji Football Association.

Nalawa FA which was formed in 1978, has been out of football action in recent years.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said the regulations regarding defunct members had changed.

He said Fiji FA vice-president Jiten Reddy and national competitions manager Amitesh Pal visited Nalawa earlier this month.

“We are working to get Nalawa back onboard and are also looking at Levuka,” Patel said.

“If they have not been with Fiji FA for 10 years, then the regulations have changed. They will have to reapply for membership.

“They have to make sure the club competition is viable with the registration of club licenses. We have started with Nalawa right now. They have seven clubs there with 20 registered players in each club.

“They have shown keen interest, but for the next two years, they will have to show the viability of being a fully-fledged association before we can allow them back in under our banner.

“If things go according to plan, Nalawa FA will be back in the senior division in 2024.”
