NAITASIRI Secondary School continues to prove that they are one of the best in secondary school rugby league, as both the schoolgirls and schoolboys teams qualify for the Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Rugby League national final this week.

Through God’s guidance and blessings, both the warriors’ team have respectfully progressed into one of the nation’s anticipated school finals.

Naitasiri Secondary School head of school, Joseva Chale said as a school they thanked God for his love and blessings upon them.

“We are so fortunate to be the only school that has its U19 boys and U19 girls qualify for the national rugby league championship this Saturday,” he said.

“We thank God alone. We are honoured, blessed and happy to reach this level in our quest for national supremacy in rugby league.

“We are gaining more support from old scholars and school supporters – those that love rugby league.

“Much will be said this Saturday as the dust at King Charles Park settles as we close this rugby season.”

On areas that the teams need to work on, he said firstly they just need to put God first in every they do.

“The School Theme for 2024: ‘Together We Can” is taken from John 15: 5. ‘If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit”.

“We also need to improve our defensive line. We need to make sure that our first line of defense works to the best of our abilities.

“We need to play our own style of rugby league and not be intimidated by what the opposing team is bringing on the day.

“Lastly, we need to keep the spirit of competition, own the ground and battle it out till the final whistle.”

He said they walk the talk.

“We are achieving what we targeted. This year we have joined a movement of making a school or the students for Christ. Our faith in God is our number one weapon.

“I urge all rugby league supporters to come in numbers and not to miss the opportunity to watch the best display of rugby league for 2024 as we reach the pinnacle of our season.

“A new champ will be crowned as RKS is out for the U19 boys.

“The national competition for girls is well organised and the winner will go down in the record book of girls’ rugby league.

“The school has high respect for very experienced teams like Ba Provincial Freebird Institute (for the boys) and Wainimala Secondary School for the girls.

“Both are good teams, but we will give them our utmost best.

“Wainimala is ranked no: 1 from the Southeast zone and we’re second.

“The thing is that these two teams haven’t played to date and the real No.1 will be decided when the dust settles at King Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday.

“To our mountain warriors’ supporters, the whole province of Naitasiri, I invite you to go down to Nadi to support our future warriors for the province.”
