Naitasiri came from behind to snatch a thrilling 27-25 win over Suva, retaining the Inkk Farebrother Trophy at Naluwai yesterday.

Tries for Naitasiri were scored by John Muller with two, one by Motikiai Murray, and conversions made by Senijiale Qiokata and a penalty kick by Etonia Rokotuisawa.

Rokotuisawa’s moment of brilliance shone through when he made the winning kick in the match’s dying stages to keep the Farebrother Trophy in Naitasiri for another year.

The team had bounced back from a 7-11 deficit against Suva at halftime with a concerted effort to turn the table and bag the win for the hundreds of Naitasiri fans.

The home team upped the ante in the second half, their defence pushing against a defiant Suva team not wanting to break their barriers.

“I think this win today (yesterday) creates history for Naitasiri, for us to defend the home game (and) the Farebrother throughout the year,” Murray said.

“It’s a great achievement from the team and especially to the supporters for coming out and making them proud.”
