The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources is introducing digital systems and modern surveying technology to speed up survey plan assessments and reduce delay in land registration and property development.

Minister for Lands Filimoni Vosarogo informed Parliament that the Department of Lands introduced the e-Plan Lodgement System, also known as the e-Portal, this year to allow registered private and government surveyors to submit plans electronically.

The system provides online payment facilities, electronic submission of requisitions and real-time tracking of applications, improving transparency and accountability.

Mr Vosarogo said the ministry was also strengthening staff capacity through training and modern surveying software, including 12D technology, to improve accuracy and processing times.

He said the ministry was working closely with the Department of Town and Country Planning, the Titles Office and other relevant agencies to address outstanding corrections, clearances and assessment backlogs.

Responding to Opposition MP Vijay Nath, Mr Vosarogo clarified that surveyors remained the primary contact for application updates.

However, the Plan Assessment Unit may directly contact property owners or principal applicants where communication delays arise.

The ministry aims to improve turnaround times while maintaining technical and regulatory standards.
