A 34-year-old man is in police custody as investigations continue into a series of alleged sacrilege cases in the Ba area.
The man, from Varavu, Ba, is alleged to have broken into a temple in Rarawai on November 5 and stolen a religious statue, which was later found smashed into pieces in a nearby creek.
Police are also investigating the suspect in connection with three other similar cases in the area.
The suspect had previously been charged in connection with similar sacrilege cases in Nadi.
Investigations are continuing.
