In a major step toward addressing Fiji’s national health challenges, major sporting bodies, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), the Fiji Sports Council, and Wellness Coalition member organisations convened last week for the inaugural stakeholder briefings of the upcoming BSP Life Healthy Choices Fair.
The initiative marks the first time these key entities have aligned under a single, coordinated framework to promote wellness across the nation.
Addressing the gathering, BSP Life managing director Michael Nacola commended the participating organisations for their dedication, emphasising that systemic health issues can no longer be tackled in isolation.
“We all know the challenges facing our nation. No single organisation can solve them alone. The answer lies in working together,” Mr Nacola said.
He urged participating stakeholders to move beyond discussions toward actionable community programs. “The time has come to move beyond conversations and commitments which is less talk, more action.”
The launch of the Healthy Choices Fair aligns with BSP Life’s ongoing commitment to preventative health initiatives, including its active support for this year’s Movember campaign. Throughout November, the campaign places a dedicated focus on men’s health, specifically addressing prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health awareness across Fiji.
By integrating the Movember movement into its broader wellness outreach, BSP Life aims to break long-standing social stigmas surrounding men’s physical and mental well-being, encouraging men across the country to seek early screenings and adopt healthier daily routines.
Organisers noted that years of fragmented, resource-constrained efforts are now being replaced by a unified strategy leveraging shared knowledge, experience and institutional resources. The overarching goal is to build a sustained health movement rather than a one-off event, driving long-term lifestyle changes in Fijian homes and workplaces.
With preparations in progress BSP Life and its wellness partners are inviting members of the public, community groups, and corporate organisations to join the national movement. Registration for the Healthy Choices Fair is now open online to all interested participants seeking to support a healthier Fiji.
