There are no plans by Government to amend the 2013 Constitution, says Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Filimoni Vosarogo.

“There is no program in place to amend it,” he said.

While there may be discussions among the populace regarding potential amendments, he said such proposals would need to be formally introduced by the Government.

“I think the population ultimately would demand areas that they think there will be some areas to amend the Constitution,” he said.

However, he added that any proposed amendment were to be officially presented to the Government before it could be considered.

“It would be proposed by the Government,” he said.

Regardless of any modifications to the legislation, he said the Constitution overrode any other law.

“The constitution supersedes any other law.”

He said a recent sub-headline of a local media company on this topic, was misleading and taken out of proportion.
