In his report in the FCDCL 2016 annual report, company CEO
Sachida Nand said the biggest decline in the volume of raw milk production,
compared to 2015, was from the bulk suppliers totaling just over 1 million
litres.
He said all other suppliers also failed to maintain the 2015
levels.
Mr Nand said while Burebasaga, Waidalice and Navua chilling
centres showed reasonable improvement in production, they still performed below
the 2015 levels.
In his report, Mr Nand said FCDCL suppliers produced around
6.3 million litres of milk compared to 8.1 million litres in 2015.
The decline has been attributed to bovine tuberculosis and
tropical cyclone that caused losses to stock and infrastructure, respectively.
