Speedstar Adita Milinia took a moment to honour her late dad after the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua women sailed to its third consecutive Super W final on Friday night.
Milinia was one of the standout performers in the 25-14 semi-final win over the Western Force in a packed HFC Bank Stadium in Laucala Bay, Suva.
While the crowd was on their feet celebrating the Drua’s triumph, the Malevu, Baravi in Nadroga flyer looked up to the stands to get a glimpse of her number one fan.
“My mum travelled from Nadroga, she’s seated up there on the grandstand, she is my only supporter,” the emotional winger shared.
She lost her father in 2019 who passed away from an illness.
Seeing the look on her mother’s face, Milinia couldn’t help but think of how her late dad would celebrate her rugby achievements.
“I know my father is watching me right now, I know he is happy for me. Although he is not here, he will always be in my heart.”
With the semi-final now water under the bridge, Milinia is focused on taking her performance a level higher as the Drua women aim to defend their title for the third year in a row.
