THE Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School under-18 rugby team had the honour of presenting their i-tatau to the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House in Suva, yesterday.

The team is preparing to fly out to Japan on Friday to participate in the prestigious Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament.

Team manager Hotashwar Padarath shared that the players were elated to receive the blessings of the Ratu Wiliame.

He mentioned that they were reminded to have a safe journey as they set off on Friday.

“The team’s preparation has been well, all players are in great physical condition with no injuries,” said Padarath.

“The coaching team has put in significant effort to fine-tune strategies and game plans for the tournament, utilising the full squad of 30 members.

“The team is bracing for tough competition against formidable opponents from Australia, New Zealand, England, and the host nation, Japan.

“The team is determined to showcase their skills and return home victorious, eager to demonstrate the hard work and dedication they have put in.”
