The first-ever Hybrid Trade and Gender Symposium for the Pacific got underway in Port Vila, Vanuatu, yesterday with participants joining online from Micronesia and Polynesia.

Co-organised by the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Secretariat and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) with funding from the European Union’s (EU) Technical Cooperation and Capacity Building Facility project.

The purpose of the Symposium is two-fold:

  • To improve trade performance of Women-owned MSMEs and improve their participation in Pacific economies; and
  • For Policy Makers, to understand the impacts of trade and trade policy on gender equality.

The symposium continues at the Warwick Le Lagon today.
