Twenty-nine vendors from Laqere Market in Nasinu have successfully completed a two-day Cooperative Management Training to strengthen their leadership and grow their businesses.

The training was organised by the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development, which covered areas in cooperative governance, financial management, bookkeeping, leadership and legal responsibilities.

While officiating at the closing ceremony and certificate presentation, director and registrar of Cooperatives director Iosefo Koroidimuri said through this training, the vendors gained practical skills to improve accountability and grow their business.

He said people must work diligently to provide for themselves and for their families.

“You have your targets, your business forecast and the goals you want to achieve as a cooperative, but getting there requires hard work and commitment,” Mr Koroidimuri said in a statement from the ministry.

“That is the only formula that will move us forward.

“There are no shortcuts in business.

“Every step along the journey matters and every challenge presents an opportunity to grow.

“Your reward awaits, but the responsibility for your success rests with each one of you.”

Nasinu Town Council special administrator Jone Tuiono said by investing in their own development, vendors had gained valuable experiences, developed their own ways of managing their earnings and serving customers.

With significant development planned for Nasinu in the coming years, Mr Tuiono encouraged members to think beyond their current operations and position the cooperative to seize emerging business opportunities.

Cooperative member Anaseini Vuidreketi said the training had challenged members to look critically at the way they operated and identify areas that required improvement.
