A GROUP of parents and students of Ratu Kadavulevu School celebrated the school’s Coke Zero Dean’s U18 final feat with a march that began from Lelean Memorial School to Ratu Cakaboau House in Nausori yesterday.
RKS Nausori Parents and Teachers Association treasurer Kitiana Matalau said although the march was organised on such a short notice, it was something they had wanted to for quite a long time.
“It’s been a while and we are just happy to be part of celebrations.
“There were times when they had almost won but I guess it was saved for this moment.
“This is our year. There have been critics that have informed us that trophy would never cross the bridge and this is us officialising the whole process,” she said.
She added that while they were but a small number they understood that a lot of other parents and former scholars had obligations to attend to, they were hopeful that they would be part of a much larger celebrations scheduled to be held at RKS Kings grounds later today.
The Police Youth band had led the march through the Rewa Bridge with parents, supporters and students chanting the schools name.
RKS Nadi PTA president Jokatama Qionimua said they hoped the win at the Deans would motivate the students to apply the same determination to their school work.
“They have been rewarded with their determination in the sport and we hope they will also be motivated to perform above expectations until when they have their exams,” he said.
A church service will be conducted at 9-10am today to mark the official celebrations for the decade long wait.
