From Broadway to Fiji, theatre and art lovers will have the chance to experience the country’s first Broadway musical Mamma Mia! on stage.
Organised by the Festivals Company as part of its 2024 arts season, the arrival of the global smash hit will feature the iconic songs of ABBA from February 9-17 next year.
Featuring an all-star cast including vude queen Laisa Vulakoro, Soni Uluitoga and more, Mamma Mia! will set the stage for a thrilling theatrical journey leading up to the Fiji Fringe Festival in March 2024.
Members of the audience will be transported to an island paradise in Greece where they’ll experience the magic of Broadway in the heart of Suva.
Musical director and co-producer Michael Payer said Musical Fiji were committed to making the performances accessible and inclusive.
He said they were partnering with the Fiji Association for the Deaf to provide local sign language interpretation for an accessible performance during the show.
“So, we’re really hoping to bring all the artistic community and people together,” Mr Payer said.
“We’re really hoping that Mamma Mia! is going to be able to create this community feeling and give local artists an opportunity to perform on the biggest stage.
Meanwhile, Vulakoro said she was excited to work with other artists and urged everyone to watch the show next year.
