Vanua Levu has captured the attention of numerous foreign and local companies.
While highlighting this, the Commissioner Northern Usaia Rainima said they were eager to invest in the region.
“A lot of new interests are received from both local and foreign in foreign companies,” he said.
Mr Rainima said the influx of interest signals a burgeoning confidence in the opportunities available on Fiji’s second biggest island.
“There is a lot of confidence built up already as they hear about what is happening here right now,” he said.
With the improvement in telecommunication infrastructure, he anticipated it would attract more businesses to Vanua Levu.
“We will be able to attract more customers and businesses to our shores,” he said.
He said Vanua Levu had a great potential for growth.
“It is so rich in resources both on land and sea,” he said.
Vanua Levu, he said was the largest supplier of raw materials to Viti Levu.
“This includes agriculture products, fisheries, and forest is three main sectors provide for the backbone of Fiji’s national economy,” he said.
Tourism sector, he said was also beginning to thrive in Vanua Levu.
“Many operators have started exploring our natural abilities, and unique features that makes us so different from anywhere else in the world,” he said.
He said Vanua Levu was a perfect place to visit and relax for families as it was away from the busiest towns and cities.
