Fiji will host lifters from more than 40 countries during the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Suva in September.

Fiji Weightlifting head coach Henry Elder said the first week will be the Commonwealth championship followed by the World Masters. He said the two-week event is called the Weightlifting Fiji Carnival.

Meanwhile, Fiji weightlifter Taniela Rainibogi is yet to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in France.

The 25-year-old was the only athlete who represented the country at the recent International Weightlifting Federation World Cup in Thailand earlier this month.

Elder said WF will be releasing qualifying list for the Olympics.
