MCDONALD’S Fijian Drua Women head coach Mike Legge believes his side is well prepared for today’s Super W final against the NSW Waratahs, with the team eager to make the most of home advantage at 4R Stadium in Ba.
Speaking after the captain’s run yesterday, Legge said the squad completed its final preparations on a positive note after a focused week leading into the championship decider.
“We finished our preparation with the captain’s run and it went really well,” Legge said.
“It has been a week where we tried to minimise distractions, and we’re looking forward to getting out there tomorrow.”
Drua captain Kolora Lomani admitted there are plenty of emotions within the camp, but said the team is excited for the occasion.
“Excited. The nerves are starting to kick in and we are looking forward to the game,” Lomani said.
She added that while some nervousness was expected, the players are now fully focused on the task ahead.
“Everyone was a bit nervous at the start of the week, but the girls are now looking forward to it.”
Lomani also called on supporters to pack 4R Stadium and help lift the Drua in what promises to be a historic occasion for women’s rugby in Fiji.
“Hope to see you at 4R Stadium. Hopefully we give you a good game.”
The Drua will be aiming to create history by winning their first Super W title on home soil, with a capacity crowd expected to roar the Fijian side on in Ba.
