FIJIAN Police have confirmed that the male person of interest taken in for questioning over the Nausori Highland deaths is a New Zealand permanent resident.
However, Police have not confirmed whether a woman who was also being interviewed shared similar residency status in New Zealand.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the man who was a person of interest had been interviewed and released.
“The woman is known to the first person of interest and also to the Kumar family,” Ms Naisoro said.
The bodies of Nirmal Kumar, 63, his wife Usha Devi, 54, their daughter Nileshni Kajal, 34, and her two daughters Sana and Samarah, aged eight and 11, were found on a small plateau in the Nausori Highlands on Monday.
Ms Naisoro said post-mortem examination results were consistent with an alleged substance ingested by all five victims that resulted in their deaths.
