The Lautoka Football Association has joined forces with the Lautoka Secondary Schools Football Association (FSSFA) to unearth players for the district and national age group teams.
The FSSFA completed its under-17 competition last week.
Tilak High School reigned supreme in the competition defeating Natabua High School 4-0 in the final.
Sekove Luma and Jeral Singh proved to be the stars for Tilak scoring a brace of goals each.
In the semi-finals, Natabua edged Lautoka Muslim College 1-0 while Tilak defeated Central College 3-0.
Lautoka Football Association executive member and youth development officer Narayan Reddy said players from the Lautoka zone have been chosen in the national under-19 extended squad.
Narayan said they would help the LSSFA organise the boys U19 competition and girls competition.
“The aim is to create a pathway for these players from the junior level national age group team and also the Lautoka team,” he said.
“Junior Dekedeke and Gulam Razool are two of the boys who have been drafted into the Lautoka senior side and have been performing very well.”
