Member of Parliament Sanjay Kirpal and Anal Avinash Ram have pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault.
The two appeared before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne in the Suva Magistrates Court today.
They are accused of assaulting a man following an argument at Mr Kirpal’s home on August 9.
The defence did not pursue reconciliation between the accused and the complainant, with the court hearing there was a cross-report filed with police yesterday.
Police prosecution confirmed the cross-report had been received but said no action had been taken on it as yet.
The court also heard that both accused made no admissions during their caution interviews.
Magistrate Somaratne adjourned the matter to August 31
