Manoa Kamikamica has officially returned to Government, taking the oath of office as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Industries, Commerce, Business Development and Public Enterprises at State House today.
President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu presided over the swearing-in ceremony, which was attended by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and members of Mr Kamikamica’s family.
During the ceremony, Mr Kamikamica took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Due Execution of Office, formally resuming his ministerial responsibilities.
His return comes after the Suva Magistrates Court dismissed the criminal case against him, acquitting him on charges of perjury and providing false information to a public servant after ruling there was no case to answer.
As Minister for Industries, Commerce, Business Development and Public Enterprises, he is expected to resume oversight of key sectors aimed at promoting investment, supporting business growth and advancing Government’s economic development agenda.
Public enterprises was under Minister Charan Jeath Singh until now.
His reinstatement restores him to the position of Deputy Prime Minister alongside his ministerial portfolio.
