AFTER finishing top of Group A, the Junior Bula Boys head into today’s semi-finals OFC Under-16 Men’s Championship semi-final against Solomon Islands with confidence, but they know the biggest challenge of their campaign awaits.
The Junior Bula Boys have impressed throughout the tournament with their discipline, determination and ability to handle pressure. However, the semi-finals stage brings a different level of intensity, where small moments can decide who moves one step closer to the title.
Leading the charge of Fiji has been Rewa’s Isoa Baselala, who has played a key role in guiding the team through its successful group-stage campaign.
Baselala has shown strong leadership on and off the field while also making his impact count when it matters most.
He scored in Fiji’s final group stage against Papua New Guinea.
His composure and ability to step up in important moments will be vital as the Junior Bula Boys prepare for a tough semi-final against Solomon Islands.
Despite the team’s strong run so far, head coach Sunil Kumar believes there is still room for improvement as Fiji enters the knockout stage.
“For us, it’s one step at a time, and I can see that the boys are getting confidence, growing in the game. Still, there are a lot of areas for us to improve,” Kumar said.
Kumar’s focus remains on keeping the players grounded while building on the progress made throughout the tournament.
With a place in the final at stake, the Junior Bula Boys will need to maintain their discipline, composure and belief when they face Solomon Islands.
Kick-off is set for 6pm today, as the Junior Bula Boys look to continue their impressive campaign after finishing top of Group A.
