THE Suva Marathon Club has unveiled the Namosi Challenge 2026, promising a unique trail running experience deep in the heart of Fiji’s Namosi Highlands.
Set for June 6, this event is not your typical race.
Instead, it invites participants to embrace the stunning landscape and enjoy the run in a spirit of community and wellness.
Amit Ahlawat, president of the Suva Marathon Club, was clear about the event’s purpose.
“This is not about a race or competition,” he said.
“It’s an incredible experience running into the heart of the Fiji Namosi Highland,” Ahalawat said.
The challenge offers three categories: A half marathon of 21.1 kilometres; a 10K individual run; and a team relay where four runners each tackle 10 kilometres, combining for a full marathon distance.
But for Ahlawat and the club, the focus goes beyond distance or speed.
“We want to promote fitness and healthy living,” Ahlawat explained.
“At the same time, this event gives us a chance to give back to the local community.”
Proceeds from the run will go towards upgrading infrastructure at primary and secondary schools in Namosi.
“We urge participants to donate whatever they can to support the schools and the people of Namosi.”
Since its founding in 2014-15, the Suva Marathon Club has organised running events mainly within Suva.
This year, the club is expanding its reach to showcase the beauty and community spirit of the Namosi Highlands.
Registrations for the event are already open for individuals, with team registrations to follow soon.
The event is capped at 500 participants to ensure a quality experience, so runners are encouraged to register early.
The Namosi Challenge 2026 offers more than just a run.
It’s an opportunity to connect with nature, promote a healthy lifestyle, and lend a helping hand to a community eager to grow.
For those looking for a challenge that feeds the body and the soul, this event promises to deliver.
