Business owners and residents in Suva and nearby areas now have access to variety of industrial and electrical equipment with the opening of Ceylon Traders last week.
The new retail business specialises in quality hotel equipment, commercial kitchen equipment, electrical item and appliances and hospitality supplies, including coffee machines, ovens, blenders, iced machines and popcorn machines.
Ceylon Traders Pte Ltd sales and marketing executive Vishaal Nath said around $500k was invested with two jobs created for locals, and potential for more employment creation. In an interview, he said their supplier is from China and the current crisis in the Middle East was challenging for the business because they have just started and were competing with established companies.
“It will be challenging for us because of the cartage costs as well,” Mr Nath said. He added at present, the company had ample stocks for customers. “We have also placed orders upfront so that the delay in freight does not affect us.” Mr Nath said they aimed to provide excellent products, outstanding customer services, and build lasting relationships with all valued customers.
Ceylon Traders will open its second store in Nadi Town next month.
Investment Fiji head of Regional and Trade Development Lisala Dyer said such investment into hospitality was a good signal. “Tourism remains one of Fiji’s largest sectors of investment in the country, and the establishment of Ceylon Traders plays a crucial role in supplying to some of these hotels,” Mr Dyer said.
He said it also reflected a better Fiji in terms of investment and employment.
