A heavy rain alert has now been issued for the whole of Fiji as two troughs of low pressure are expected to bring widespread rain, thunderstorms and possible flooding across the country.
The Fiji Meteorological Service said a trough of low pressure is currently affecting the Fiji group, while another active trough is forecast to move over the country from tomorrow.
Forecasters are predicting occasional rain, heavy at times, accompanied by thunderstorms developing from tomorrow across the group.
The weather office said forecast confidence remains moderate but warned that the deteriorating weather conditions could lead to several impacts around the country.
Possible impacts include flash flooding in flood-prone low-lying informal settlements, communities, businesses and Irish crossings, which could result in traffic disruptions.
Surface flooding is also expected in urban areas with poor drainage systems.
Motorists are being urged to exercise caution, with wet roads and reduced visibility during heavy downpours likely to increase the risk of road accidents.
Residents living in flood-prone areas are advised to stay alert, monitor the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions as the wet weather system develops.
