Government will award $15,000 to Commonwealth Games gold medallist Taniela Rainibogi and $5,000 to boxing medallist Jasmine Daunakumakama in recognition of their achievements at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru announced the rewards tonight during the Team Fiji Thanksgiving Dinner at the Holiday Inn.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports says Rainibogi will receive $15,000 in recognition of his outstanding performance and gold-medal achievement at the Games.
Daunakumakama will receive $5,000 after making history as the first Fijian woman to win a boxing medal at the Commonwealth Games.
Saukuru said the financial awards recognised the athletes’ achievements and confirmed the money would be transferred directly to them.
“The awards will be paid directly into their respective bank accounts,” Saukuru said.
Rainibogi’s gold-medal performance was among Fiji’s standout achievements at the Games, while Daunakumakama’s medal marked a milestone for women’s boxing in the country.
The Government awards recognise the two athletes for their performances while representing Fiji on the Commonwealth stage.
