Glenis Yee has been elected the new president of the Fiji Australia Business Council (FABC), succeeding Himen Chandra.

Ms Yee was elected during the council’s annual general meeting held at the Australian High Commission yesterday.

Mr Chandra will now serve as the council’s immediate past president.

The council also confirmed the continuation of Saud Minam and Christine Lyons as vice presidents, while Bruce Stutton retains his position as treasurer.

Seven executive council members have been re-elected, including Lisa Apted, Shane Smith, Tim Joyce, Ajay Raniga, Warwick Pleass, Mark Halabe, Vera Chute and Sohaib Mahmood.

Vinay Narsey joins the executive council as a new member.

The Fiji Australia Business Council plays a key role in promoting trade, investment and stronger business relationships between Fiji and Australia.

It provides a platform for businesses from both countries to establish connections, discuss common challenges and identify new commercial opportunities.

The council also works closely with governments and other stakeholders to strengthen bilateral economic ties and encourage greater private-sector engagement.

Ms Yee’s appointment comes as the council continues its efforts to support business collaboration and investment opportunities between the two countries.
