“THE girls need to turn up at the final.”
These are the words of Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women head coach Mosese Rauluni ahead of their Super W rugby final this Sunday at the Ballymore Stadium in Brisbane.
“Grand finals are all about who turns up and takes opportunities on the field,” he said.
Rauluni added that if the Fijian Drua W does not utilise those opportunities, the Waratahs would punish them.
“We got to make the most of the opportunities and try to execute it as best as possible and come away with points on the board.
“Waratahs has been the benchmark team for the whole competition and everyone’s felt their wrath, but the grand final is a different story.”
The former Flying Fijians scrumhalf said there was no second chances in a final.
“You got to be on song for the full 80 minutes. The Waratahs are sharp in their attack and a very fit side and just like us, they like to run the ball.
“Their skill-set has also been outstanding this year and they function really well as a group.”
When questioned on what tactics would be used to counter the NSW-based team, Rauluni said they would stick to their Fijian style of play.
“We can play the Fijian way if we have our set-piece sorted, so we never want to take away the Fijian style of aspect from our game but some structure has to come into the game.
“The girls need to play the right parts of the field and they have got a lot of fight in them, which we will need this weekend for the full 80 minutes.”
The Waratahs thumped the Drua girls last month at Churchill Park by 62-21.
The final will be played at 4pm.
