Youth of Naviyago Village in Lautoka on Friday raised money to build a footpath from the main road to the village hall.

The youths were divided into five districts and targeted a total of $10,000.

The head of the fundraising committee, Naibuka Ratudradra, said the project was initiated because of the difficulties the villagers faced during heavy rain.

“The road gets muddy and makes it difficult for us to walk from the main road to the village,” Mr Ratudradra said.

“And we have come together as youths of Naviyago to fundraise and complete this project this year.

“We will do a footpath from the main road where passengers get off the bus right to the village hall.

“Because the village hall is where many government officials, visitors and NGOs come to meet us.”
