AN international organisation will fund the building of the Savusavu sewerage system.
The move comes after it was revealed that despite consultation for many years, the region still does not have a proper sewerage system in place.
Savusavu Town Council acting CEO Nilesh Chand said it would be the first phase of their project around the municipality.
“The international organisation would ensure this project is achieved,” he said
For years, Mr Chand said the absence of a sewerage system posed significant risks to the environment.
“There is an urgent need for landowners to step in by providing the solution to the problem,” he said.
Mr Chand said the collaborative effort would address the longstanding issue facing the town.
