All Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Vodafone Trophy competition matches were postponed yesterday because of unfavourable weather.

This was confirmed by FSSRL media officer Lai Corerega who said the safety of students was paramount to any sporting competition.

“A decision had to be made before the school ended yesterday (Friday) due to the adverse weather,” he said.

Corerega added that during competitions like this, there were students who will have to cross rivers or board boats to get to the venues where these competitions are being held.

“Our zone executives were concerned about the ground conditions, and safety of the players and teachers travelling as far away as the interior of Viti Levu which some of them may have to cross flooded roads, rivers, and tracks.”

The competition will now start next week.
