IT will be a case of an apprentice versus his coach when the Flying Fijians face Australia in St Entienne in France on Monday. Fiji head coach Simon Raiwalui was coached by Eddie Jones, the coach of the Wallabies at this year’s Rugby World Cup. Raiwalui is looking forward to taking on the challenge of facing Jones, knowing he will need to cover his game plan well to take on the experienced Australian. “Eddie coached me at Saracens. He was one of the best coaches in the world technically. So yeah, I’m sure he will come up with some game plan to play against us,” Raiwalui said. “We’re gonna have to execute, we’re gonna have to play our game plan. We’re gonna have to do it to our best abilities. “(Against Wales) I think we turned the ball 17 times. I think nine of them were in the contact area. So those are sort of areas that we need to get better at. That’s the big one on the front page of The Fiji Times for Thursday, September 14.
In the second story, authorities in the North are working to resolve a situation in a cane farming settlement of Macuata, where over 1000 residents have been without water for the past week after landowners shut out the reservoir area that supplies the residents. The landowning unit Tibitibi of Wainikoro, confirmed yesterday they had shut out the 400 acres on which the reservoir was located and were demanding lease payment from the Water Authority of Fiji. The group has claimed that for the past 53 years, the authority had not paid any rental.
