The Great Council of Chiefs believes moral decay among youths and school-aged children may be a possible consequence of the 2000 and 2006 coups. GCC chairman Viliame Seruvakula believes they could also be the reason for the growing number of young iTaukei involved in criminal activities. He said while challenges would accompany the globalisation process, it was unfortunate for Fiji that the events of 2000 and 2006 may have contributed in some way to the acceleration of the process of moral decay. In the second story, an investment of $85million by Carpenters Properties Limited and Hilton – Hilton Garden Inn Suva – is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2025.
