More than 1000 people lined up from as early as 5am yesterday for a free medical clinic in Suva.

Director of the Shepherd’s Call Ministry, Christian Berdhal, said his team opened the doors at the Civic Centre at 8am to a crowd already stretching out the door.

This week the clinic is offering a range of free services from Tuesday to Friday offering medical checkups and procedures, surgical, dental, eye, lifestyle education, and mental health counselling.

“We collaborated with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services; we also partnered with the local Seventh Day Adventist Church, and we’re working together as a whole unit to help provide a free medical clinic from Tuesday to Friday.”

This is their third year running the outreach, and they plan to continue doing so every year.

“Our goal is to meet the needs of the Fijian people because there are a lot of struggles in the actual medical system here in Fiji, and we want to help meet that.

“We’re also working on building a permanent clinic up in Nakavika in Namosi where we’ll be able to see all the inland and interior highland people there as a free facility with volunteers and locals running it.”
