Suliasi Uluilakeba reigned supreme at the 2023 Fiji Performing Rights Association Music Awards as he scooped three awards in Suva.
The Kere Vude artist took home the Best Recording Engineer, Artist of the Year, and the Premier Award of the night the Best Composition Award.
Dedicating his award to his late father who passed away two months ago, an emotional Uluilakeba said his dad was his biggest fan and motivator.
“He always supported me in everything I did, he always encouraged me to do what I love to do. So, this is for him,” he said.
Uluilakeba said the idea of his popular song Kere Vude came as local artists remaking old vude songs.
“About a year ago, I was at home when I realised that I could make my own vude song.
“So, I knew the best way to compose a vude song was to ask assistance from Laisa Vulakoro and Seru Serevi.”
He added that he wrote and composed the song with the advice of the two legends of the local music fraternity, but he did not expect it to become so popular around the country and win three awards.
“I did not expect to win tonight as they are some big names being nominated but I am grateful for this, and I will cherish it forever.
“I will look forward to going back to the drawing board and composing new music for my fans out there.”
