Four people, including an 18-year-old student, have been arrested following two separate drug raids conducted by the Joint Task Force in Lautoka.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said the raids were carried out on yesterday day, August 10, in Tavakubu and along Vio Road as part of ongoing operations targeting the alleged unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
In the first raid at Tavakubu, an 18-year-old student and a 24-year-old man were allegedly found in possession of white substances believed to be methamphetamine.
Both were taken into police custody, while the substances seized during the operation have been sent for analysis.
In a separate raid along Vio Road, a 38-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested after police allegedly discovered several plastic packets containing white substances believed to be illicit drugs.
Police also seized cash comprising local and foreign currencies, which is suspected to be proceeds of crime.
The substances recovered during the second raid have also been sent for analysis.
Vusonilawe said successful raids by the Joint Task Force and routine operations teams were being assisted by intelligence sharing and information received from members of the public.
Police continue to urge people to report suspected drug-related activities through the 1681 toll-free number.
