THE Ministry of Forests is pursuing lucrative opportunities for Fijian forest products from high value markets through increased awareness of internationally recognised forest certification.

This, according to permanent secretary Pene Baleinabuli. During a stakeholder consultation at the Tanoa Skylodge Hotel, Nadi, yesterday, he said the way forward for the forestry sector was through the international accreditation.

“Forest certification is very important. You will find that countries abroad that are trying to buy our forestry products are demanding certification,” Mr Baleinabuli said.
