Fijians living overseas will have the chance to vote in the general election.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said the overseas registrations would be facilitated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“For overseas registration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be working with the Fijian Elections Office,” Mr Saneem said.
“We will be conducting registration using Fiji missions abroad.
“As you know, right now due to COVID restrictions many countries don’t allow people into their country like Tonga.
“So if you are in any of these countries and you are already registered, all you have to do is apply for a postal vote and to vote through postal vote, all you need is your Voter Card number and the exact name on the Voter Card.”
Mr Saneem said Fijian voters overseas were not stopped from voting.
“Doesn’t matter whether it’s a green card or blue card, they can apply for a postal vote.
“So they are not stopped from voting.
“They can always vote, the only thing is that they will be able to vote through postal ballot.
“We are facilitating countries which have our missions first and then we will be organising travel to the countries that allow for travel.”
