THE national soccer championship that finished yesterday in the Capital City brought people together from all around the country to play and enjoy the game.
Beachcomber heard the story of a particular team that travelled to the games from an outer island.
The boys were so excited to be part of the competition that when they arrived at the game site, half of the players forgot their playing gear at the camp site.
While members of the team began warming up to stall the start time of the game, half of the players embarked on another sightseeing tour back to the camp site to retrieve their gear.
Beachcomber and other spectators watched in amusement as the coaching unit of this same team began calling around to look for the remaining boys that had gone out to visit friends and family before their scheduled game time.
When spectators began urging them on to start the game, members of this team that were present simply yelled out “relax, it’s only a game and we’re on Fiji time.”
