Fijian among three escaped prisoners sought in Tonga

Tonga Police are appealing for public assistance to locate three escaped prisoners, including one man identified as the holder of a Fijian passport.

In a public alert, police named the escapee Adam Zabid Hussein, who is identified as the holder of a Fijian passport.

Authorities have urged members of the public not to approach the escapees if they are seen, warning that they should instead immediately contact emergency number 922 or the nearest police station with any information about their whereabouts.

Tonga Police also reminded the public that it is a criminal offence to knowingly assist, harbour, conceal or provide any form of aid to escaped prisoners.

The force thanked the public for its continued cooperation, vigilance and support as efforts continue to locate the three men.

Police said anyone with information that may assist the investigation is urged to contact Tonga Police immediately.

No further details have been released on how or when the prisoners escaped, and investigations are continuing.
