The Fiji Sports Council has begun the search for a new Chief Executive Officer, seeking an experienced and strategic leader to oversee the organisation responsible for managing Fiji’s major sporting facilities and advancing the country’s sporting development.
According to the vacancy advertisement, the successful applicant will report directly to the Board of Executive Directors and, through the Board, to the Minister for Youth and Sports on national policy matters.
The new CEO will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, managing national sporting facilities including the HFC Bank Stadium and Vodafone Arena, ensuring the Council’s financial sustainability, and overseeing senior executives in finance, human resources, operations and events.
Key responsibilities include implementing the Council’s strategic plan, driving revenue through sponsorships, facility bookings and grants, strengthening relationships with government agencies and sporting organisations, improving facility utilisation, supporting grassroots and elite sports development, and enhancing the Council’s public profile.
Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree in business, sports management, public administration or a related field, while postgraduate qualifications such as an MBA or a Master’s in Sports Management will be an advantage.
The Council is also seeking candidates with at least 10 years of senior management experience, preferably in the sports, public or tourism sectors, together with proven expertise in financial management, corporate governance, commercial sponsorships and stakeholder engagement.
