Fiji records 79,724 visitor arrivals in April

Fiji Bureau of Statistics provisional figures show that visitor arrivals for April 2026 totaled 79,724, representing an 11.1 per cent increase compared to March this year.

In March 2026, Fiji recorded 71,765 visitor arrivals.

Despite the monthly increase, arrivals for April 2026 were slightly lower than the same period last year, when 80,363 visitors were recorded. In April 2024, arrivals stood at 77,292.

The Bureau said visitor arrivals had generally increased steadily over the past four years, although 2026 recorded a slight decline compared to 2025 figures.

Of the total arrivals recorded last month, 75,794 visitors arrived by air while 3,930 came by sea.

Sea arrivals were largely made up of seamen on fishing vessels, accounting for 3,838 arrivals, while another 92 visitors arrived by yacht.

Holidaymakers continued to dominate Fiji’s tourism market, accounting for 80.8 per cent of all arrivals during April.

Visitors travelling to see friends or relatives made up 8.3 per cent of arrivals, while 2.3 per cent travelled for business purposes. Another 8.6 per cent visited Fiji for other reasons.

Australia remained Fiji’s largest tourism source market, contributing 39,521 visitors or 49.6 per cent of total arrivals.

New Zealand followed with 16,080 visitors, accounting for 20.2 per cent, while the United States contributed 8,831 visitors.

Other key markets included Continental Europe with 2,884 arrivals, China with 1,849 visitors, Canada with 1,847 and the United Kingdom with 1,219 arrivals.
