Fiji Navy rescues vessel after engine failure at sea

The Fiji Navy carried out an early morning rescue today after responding to a vessel that became stranded at sea due to engine failure.

In a statement, the Fiji Navy said members of its Small Boats Squadron were conducting a routine patrol when they received a report from a vessel requesting assistance.

The location of the rescue operation was not released.

The patrol team was immediately diverted to the vessel’s location, where they provided assistance before safely towing the disabled vessel into sheltered waters.

The Navy said the successful operation highlights the importance of maintaining a strong maritime presence and being prepared to respond to emergencies at sea.

It is also reminding all mariners to take the necessary precautions before heading out to sea, including ensuring their vessels are seaworthy and adhering to all maritime safety measures.

The Fiji Navy said following basic safety practices can help prevent incidents and ensure the safety of those travelling on Fiji’s waters.
